Les nombres ordinaux / classwork for Thursday April 30
To make an ordinal number in French add the suffix – ième to the cardinal number. Ordinal numbers tell the position of someone or something. Example first, second, third…
Number + ième
Example
deux► deuxième
trois ►troisième
Attention
* First does not follow the rule. It is an exception. Use the word premier (e) for first.
* The -f at neuf is drop and make way for a –v. Ninth would be neuvième.
* Numbers that ends with –e, drops the –e before adding the suffix-ième.

Art Update May 12
Hello everyone I hope everyone is doing well. This week I want to go back to drawing and try something called metamorphosis art. For this project I want you will transform an object into another object. The way to do this is by drawing several drawings that gradually turn one object into another. I know sounds hard, but I think the examples below will make this assignment make sense. There is no limit on the amount of drawings you can do, but you should have at least three. You are free to use any medium and size paper of your choice. I remember doing a project like this in middle school and I loved it, I hope you do too. Due Date it Tuesday May 19th.
Please Click Here for examples

Music
Zoom Class: Thursday 12:00 – 12:45
Hello, 6th graders. Below is the link to a video pertaining to Joni Mitchell, an artist whom I would argue was without peer. I have once again included close captioning/subtitles, which I believe may be helpful (if they don’t appear, you can click on “cc” on the bottom strip of the video). I am also attaching an accompanying assignment (the fourth and final assignment of our distance learning segment). Please email me the assignment (or any questions you have) at THeineman@gardenschool.org.
As we discussed in today’s Zoom lesson, please bring the shaker you created to next week’s zoom class. Have a great week!
Hello, 6th graders. As per our zoom lesson, I am posting a link to a video about one of the most notable artists in Popular Music, Stevie Wonder. I have included close captioning/subtitles, and this may help you in terms of picking up information and understanding what is said (if they don’t appear, you can click on “cc” on the bottom strip of the video). I am also attaching an accompanying assignment (the third since we began distance learning). Please email me the assignment (or any questions you have) at THeineman@gardenschool.org.
As we discussed in today’s Zoom lesson, please bring a simple string instrument to next week’s zoom class. This can be created with any string, cord, or rubber band and a resonant body to amplify the sound of the vibrating string (such as a can, tin, cup, box, etc.). A portion of the object should be ‘open’ to allow the vibrations to enter. Good luck!
Hello. This week, I am posting some information on sound and how we hear (a review, for some of you, of things we have discussed in the past) because it will form the base of our knowledge as we learn about certain electronic musical instruments and technology in the coming weeks. Take a look at the document posted below and be prepared to discuss it in our upcoming Zoom class. I am also providing a link for a video that outlines the hearing process which you can watch if you want further reinforcement.
Hello, 6th graders. I hope everyone is well. First off, let me alert you to a program airing on PBS Channel 13 featuring various artists doing versions of Chuck Berry’s songs entitled ‘Chuck Berry- Brown Eyed Handsome Man.’ I have not seen it yet, but the artists include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix. We will learn about Chuck Berry next year (if not sooner). It will re-air at 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday 3/21 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday 3/22.
I am posting some videos that pertain to the Beatles. The first is a sort of career retrospective that appears to have coincided with the massive promotion of their ITunes rollout (their music wasn’t being sold as digital downloads until their catalogue was released by Apple). The others are brief promotional videos of some of their later albums and Revolver. I will introduce some more activities next week. All the best.
